How To Make People Like You In 90 Seconds

I just led the staff through a book called How to Make People Like You in 90 Seconds or Less.

This is a must read for all business leaders, pastors, and anyone who works with people.

The book is authored by Nicholas Boothman and is all about making instant meaningful connections.

Anytime you work with people it is imperative that you study how people work.

Boothman does an exceptional job of teaching you the art of body language that creates rapport, active listening that helps you win favor, studying the three sensory preferences and how to use them to connect with people, as well as the art of synchronizing.

The Road Trip Every Christian Leader Should Take

I read a lot because we live in such a fast pace of change.

In times of change, learners inherit the Earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.

It was John F. Kennedy who said, “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.
”

As a part of that continued education, I read a book called, A Multi-Site Church Roadtrip: Exploring the New Normal (Leadership Network Innovation Series).

In this book, the authors, Geoff Surratt, Greg Ligon and Warren Bird led us on a journey to a variety of churches who are helping pioneer this new norm.

I have over twenty pages of notes, and have no plans to copy and paste them here.

I do want to point out a few thoughts that I hope will inspire you to pack up your old paradigms, throw some church as usual in a bag, and fill your idea tank up with fuel as you head out on this adventure to find what God is doing through this trend changing movement.

Why The Next Book You Read Should Be Sun Stand Still

Steven Furtick and I in 2009

Steven Furtick is a passion filled preacher of the gospel who has the depth of John Piper, the relevance of Ed Young and the swagger of Ryan Seacrest.

In the last four and a half  years, his church (Elevation Church) has grown from four families that sold their houses to follow this vision to reach Charlotte, NC to an average attendance of over 6,000.

This past year he wrote Sun Stand Still: What Happens When You Dare to Ask God for the Impossible.

The book’s premise revolves around the narrative of General Joshua and a prayer for God to stop the rotation of the solar system, at least until he can finish his battle.
