This is a guest post written by my incredible wife, Courtney Foster. You can connect with her on Twitter.
But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. (Matthew 9:36 NKJV)
Jesus was overwhelmed with compassion.
Our hearts should also be moved by those who are wandering about, hopeless.
- Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV)
Jesus instructs His disciples to pray.
That may seem a bit inactive to some.
But prayer is not a small thing, or a last resort.
Rather, as my husband said, “Prayer is the foundation for anything great that happens in your life.”
- And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ (Matthew 10:7 NKJV)
God uses you and makes divine appointments happen “as you go”.
Chris told us, “Grace is not meant to be kept in us, it is meant to flow through us.”
So why do we not share grace more often?
Most of us don’t simply because we don’t remember why it was given. — It was given so we don’t have to go to Hell.
68% of Americans do not believe in a literal Hell.
However, no matter how sincerely you do or don’t believe in something, your perception doesn’t change reality.
There are 3 categories of Christians:
The ones that just sit and bark.
You know this type…because you know what they’re against, but not what they’re for.
The ones that always blend into their environment.
You can spot this type for the same reason you don’t usually notice them… they don’t do anything to stand out.
The ones who just hop around, wherever.
You used to know this type, but then they moved on, because they aren’t dedicated to any one ministry.
And finally, the type of Christian we are supposed to be?
The Wall Watcher, helping the hopeless and extending grace, all while we watch and wait for our Savior’s return.
- “So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me. (Ezekiel 33:7 NKJV)
